Travelling from Klimt to Kahlo with a brief stop at Kandinsky, the new Big Mother has finally arrived! Finnish artist Riikka Sormunen has drawn on her background studying fashion to create 22 seductive prints that feature exquisitely detailed garments inspired by the artist’s favourite designers: the print-heavy Jonathan Saunders and Dries van Noten.

It might seem strange to covet imaginary clothing but the beautiful patterns and rich colours that Riikka uses make her costumes leap off the page.

After briefly studying fashion design at The University of Art and Design of Helsinki, Riika decided to leave school and concentrate on painting and illustration.

Currently living and working in Berlin, Riikka has taken part in various group exhibitions around the world, including Pick Me Up London 2012, and has worked for leading periodicals and newspapers, including The New York Times and The Guardian.

Printed on the finest sustainably sourced paper, this beautiful publication is a large A3 format, opening up to huge A2 double page spreads. Big Mother #3 can be read as a book or easily dissembled into individual artworks.
